| Physician Assistants are licensed healthcare professionals who practice medicine with physician supervision. They work in virtually every specialty and practice setting. Physicians may delegate to PAs those duties that are within the physician's scope of practice and which the PA has been trained to do. PAs may do a physical assessment, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and X-rays, assist in surgery, perform procedures (casting, aspiration/injection of joints, reduce fractures and dislocations). All these duties and procedures are under the direct supervision of the physician. |
